Thomas Frank Coleman was born on March 15, 1948 in Highland Park,
Michigan. His parents were Murray F. Coleman and Kathleen J. Steil. Tom was raised and went to elementery and high school in Ferndale, Michigan. He had eight siblings. Tom attended college in the 1960s and graduated from law school in 1973. Tom opened a law office in Los Angeles where he practiced law for several decades. Tom and Michael met in 1980 is Hollywood, California. They were married in international waters on October 17, 1981. Over the years, they lived in several areas of Los Angeles, with a two-year residence in Kona, Hawaii, and eventually settled in Palm Springs, California. Tom's Parents and Grandparents Tom's father, Murray Frear Coleman, was born to Arthur "Roy" Coleman and Margaret Paterson. Murray had two full siblings, Betty and Jean. Jean died in a car accident at the age of seven. Betty lived to the age of 97. Murray had two half siblings, Dodd and Ruth, who were offspring of Roy. Roy was the youngest of eight children born to Calvert Malcolm Coleman and Sara Elizabeth Westfall. Calvert's parents were born in Ireland. Sara's ancestors lived in the area now known as New York prior to the founding of the United States. The Westfall roots are traced back to Westphalia, Germany. Margaret was the youngest of four daughters born in Ontario, Canada, to John Creighton Paterson and Fanny Hope. John and Fanny were both born in Scotland. Tom's mother, Kathleen Steil, was the only child born to Frank W. Steil and Catherine J. Lukaschewski. Frank's parents, George Steil and Katherine Ackles, were born in Germany. Catherine's parents, Rudolph Lukaschewski and Anna Janzen, were born in the area now known as Gdnask, Poland. Catherine and Frank both had several siblings. DNA and National Origin Tom's dna shows that his paternal ancestors lived in Scotland (Paterson and Hope), Ireland (Coleman), and Germany (Westfall). His maternal ancestors lived in Germany (Steil) and Poland (Lukaschewski. Tom's ancient paternal dna shows that his earliest paternal ancestors were Celtic. His ancient maternal dna shows that his ancient maternal ancestors are traced back to Persia. Surnames Paternal ancestor surnames include Coleman, Westfall, Paterson, and Hope. Maternal ancestor surnames include Steil, Ackles, Lukaschewski, and Janzen. Michael Andrew Vasquez was born on July 29,
1949 in Bakersfield, California. His parents were Eugene R. Vasquez and Josephine Munguia. Michael was raised and went to elementery and high school in Oxnard, California. He had five siblings. Michael served in the United States Air Force in the 1970s. He later attended Los Angeles City College. He was licensed as a psychiatric technician and worked at Camirillo State Hospital. Michael and Tom met in 1980 is Hollywood, California. They were married in international waters on October 17, 1981. Over the years, they lived in several areas of Los Angeles, with a two-year residence in Kona, Hawaii, and eventually settled in Palm Springs, California. Michael's Parents and Grandparents Michael's father, Eugene Vasquez, was born to Enrique Vasquez and Esther Rodriguez. Eugene had nine siblings: Elvira, Henry, Angelita, Arthur, Hugh, Richard, Gilbert, Carmen, and Esther. Eugene and his siblings were raised by their parents in Tehachapi, California. Enrique was born in Mexico City to Adrian Vasquez and Maria Calsada. One brother, Ventura, has been identified. Little more is known about the Vasquez family in Mexico. Esther was born in Vera Cruz to Nicholas Rodriguez and Angela Cantos. One sister, Victoria, has been identified. The roots of the Rodriguez family are believed to be in Cuba and prior to that in Africa. Tests of two of Esther's children show that between 16% and 25% of their DNA originated from various nations in Africa. Michael's mother, Josephine Munguia, was one of four children -- Albert, Edward, Amelia, and Fred -- born to Esquipula Munguia and Elijia Terrazas. Esquipula was born in Arizona while his parents were born in Sonora, Mexico. Elijia, like her mother Isabel Rascon, was born in New Mexico. Her father, Melicio Terrazas, was born in Chihuahua, Mexico. DNA and National Origin Michael's dna shows that his paternal ancestors were mostly indiginous to Mexico (Vasquez), with considerable influence from Africa (Rodgiguez). His maternal ancestors (Munguia) had more ancestral ties (56%) to Spain and Portugal. Some six percent of his mother's dna originates from Sephardic Jews in the Iberian Penninsula.
