Eva Steil
 

Eva Steil was born to John Peter Steil and Anna Ruhl in Neuerburg, Germany on September 10, 1860.   At her baptism, her Godparents were listed as Valentinus Steil (her paternal uncle) and Eva Terres (a relative of her mother).

Her brother George immigrated to Detroit from Germany in 1880 and her brother Valentinus immigrated there two years later.  When her parents immigrated to Detroit with the other four children in 1884, Eva was not named on the passenger list.  It is possible that she stayed behind in Germany because she was married, her age being 24 in 1884.  Whether she (and her husband) immigrated later on is unknown.
