Coleman Family History

Videos

Dear website visitor,

From time to time, videos will be added to this website.  Some will directly pertain to the history of specific ancestors or to current members of the Coleman family.  Others will be more generic and will pertain to Coleman ancestry in more general terms.  Some will be added for educational purposes while others will be added as entertainment.  In either case, I hope you will enjoy them.

A Place in the Choir: This Could Be Our Family's Theme Song

Like many families, the Coleman family is very diverse.  Members represent a broad range of political views and a wide variety of religious and spiritual perspectives.  We may not see eye to eye on economic or social issues, but we are still all members of the Coleman family.  Our paternal heritage is Irish and our ancient ancestral roots seem to adhere to Celtic traditions.

I was watching a PBS program the other day of a group of entertainers known as Celtic Thunder.  I found the music to be captivating, perhaps because of my own Irish and Celtic heritage.  One of their songs -- "A Place in the Choir" -- especially caught my attention.  The lyrics say that "All God's creatures got a place in the choir -- some sing low and some sing higher."  It reminded me that all of us have a place in the extended Coleman family, regardless of how different we may be from on another.  Here is a link to a You Tube performance of this song by Celtic Thunder.  Watch, listen, and enjoy.  I think you may agree that "A Place in the Choir" could be our family's theme song.

And Here's a Song in Tribute to Our Irish Heritage

I am including Ireland's Call on this video page as a way of showing tribute to our Irish heritage.  I first learned of our paternal Irish ancestry when Clarice Coleman sent me a copy of the death certificate of Calvert Coleman, my great grandfather.  It said that his parents were Patrick Coleman and Bridget Hand, both born in Ireland.  When I did a dna test through ancestry.com, my paternal dna confirmed my Irish roots.  So in honor of our Irish ancestors, I am adding this song to the website.  Proud, strong, and determined -- part of us is Irish.
