Sarah Westfall Coleman Renton
 (1844-1922)

Sarah Elizabeth Westfall was the daughter of Samuel DeWitt Westfall III and Elizabeth.  She was born in 1844 in Van Buren Township, Michigan.  She died on April 2, 1922 in Highland Park, Michigan.

Sarah married Calvert Malcolm Coleman on December 24, 1863.  Sarah and Calvert had eight children over a 20 year span beginning in 1864 and ending in 1884.  They separated around 1892 and divorced a few years later. 

Sarah married James Renton in 1910.  Tradition has it that Sarah and James had been childhood sweethearts.  James died in 1918. 

When we first visited her grave site in April 2011, we thought that Sarah's grave did not have a headstone or other marker.  But on a subsequent visit, and with the help of a cemetery employee, we found that she did have a marker after all.  It has just been hidden under grass and dirt.
