George Calvert Coleman
(1870-1946)
George Calvert Coleman was born on September 8, 1870, in Van
Buren Township, Michigan. He was one of eight children
born to Calvert Coleman and Sarah Westfall.
George was married two times. He married Myrtle Warner
on November 23, 1898, in New Boston, Michigan. Jennie
was the only child born of this marriage. George married
Winnifred Black on December 29, 1911, in Royal Oak, Michigan.
They had three children: Rose, George Jr., and Laurel.
George was involved in civic life in the communities in which
he lived. He was elected Constable of Van Buren Township
from 1897-1899, Trustee of the Village Council from 1910-1912,
and Justice of the Peace in 1922, 1926, 1930, and 1938.
George died on July 30, 1946, at Wayne County General
Hospital, in Eloise, Michigan.
