Beatrice Irene Coleman
 (1907-1997)

Beatrice Irene Coleman was born on October 25, 1907, in Belleville, Michigan.  She was one of seven children born to Claud Coleman and Jennie Heath.

She married Ovid Manzer Riggs in Toledo, Ohio, on December 16, 1934.  They had one child.

Prior to her marriage, Beatrice taught elementary school. That ended in 1935 because Michigan state law prohibited married women from teaching school.  They had to keep their marriage a secret from December 1934 until the school year was over the following June.

Ovid Manzer Riggs
 (1908-2003)

Ovid Manzer Riggs was born on August 5, 1908, in Canton Township, Michigan.  His parents were Frank Riggs and Nellie Shook. 

Ovid and Beatrice started a wholesale grocery business in 1937.  That had a successful business and sold it in 1990 when they retired.  During their retirement years, the couple traveled extensively.

Ovid died February 17, 2003 in Belleville.
